Limitations of rootless/roothide/TrollStore builds of XXTouch

On iOS 15 and later, the system partition is read-only.

TrollStore build limitations​

  • alerthelper module does not work properly
  • dialog and webview are less smooth than in a full jailbreak environment
  • Cannot use os.execute or io.popen

TrollStore build advantages​

  • Does not rely on a jailbreak environment
  • Can use a Home Screen widget to start automatically on boot

Bootstrap jailbreak environment limitations​

  • XXTouch daemon does not auto-start with Bootstrap
  • alerthelper module does not work properly
  • dialog and webview are less smooth than in a full jailbreak environment
  • The software keyboard cannot be shown inside webview floating windows
